MEETINGS

   The Greensboro Landlords Association, Inc. usually meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm. Check the dates below for exceptions to the second Tuesday schedule. Meetings are held at 3407 W Wendover Avenue Suite E. See the map and directions below.

Directions

Although this is a Wendover Avenue address, the entrance is actually on CLifton Road.

If coming east (from I40):
Stay in the right lane of Wendover Ave as you approach Clifton road. The bowling alley will be on your right. Follow straight ahead onto Clifton, do not follow Wendover which will curve to the left. Now on Clifton, turn left into to the first parking lot (office park) then immediately to the right. 3407-E is all the way in the back.

If coming west (from downtown):
There is a traffic light at Clifton just about 2 miles after passing Wesley Long Hospital or Friendly center. Turn left at the light then follow Clifton Rd as it curves to the left. Turn left into to the first parking lot (office park) then immediately to the right. 3407-E is all the way in the back.

Algenon Cash, the Executive Director of Wharton Gladden & Co. will be out speaker for March. He will give a presentation on the current capital markets and his thoughts for 2010. His presentation will be followed by a question and answer session. This will be a great presentation for those acquiring or refinancing properties in the near future. Algenon has been a guest of ours before and we are always glad to have him.

The speaker for February is Jeff Dellinger. He works for the North Carolina Health Hazards Control Unit. He will be speaking on the rules and regulations that go into effect January 1, 2010 concerning renovations and repairs to structures built before 1978. All such structures are presumed to have lead paint. EPA regulations go into effect April 1, 2010. However, North Carolina regulations go into effect January 1, 2010.

Our speaker will be Greensboro's City Manager Rashad Young. Mr. Young will give a presentation on his goals, priorities, and vision for Greensboro over the next several years. His presentation will be followed by a question and answer session.

Refreshments will be served at 6PM and the meeting will begin at 6:30PM. For the first half of the meeting we will discuss our accomplishments for 2009 and our goals for 2010. We will also discuss our membership campaign we will begin in the next few weeks. The new council member for District 2 will join us for the second half of the meeting. For all of you that have property in District 2 this is a great time to meet your new council member. After that we finish with a Holiday Social.

We would love to hear what ideas you have for 2010. This is an all volunteer organization and we are always looking for members to step up and serve in anyway that may be helpful. So if you have suggestions or want to serve please do not hesitate to step forward. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.
Sep 08, 2009City council speakers and ROCU Fines
Our next meeting is September 8, 2009. We are still in election mode. Our speakers will be Nancy Vaughan, Sandra Anderson Groat, Mary Rakestraw, and our very own MaryKay Abuzuaiter. Your attendance would show that we are concerned obout the future of Greensboro and the direction it is headed. We have had several successes over the last several years, but now is not the time to get lax on the issues. With a new city manager, RUCO, and the poor financial situation of all governments we must stay vigilant.

We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday. The meeting will be held at our normal meeting place, the BBT/REMAX Building on North Elm St. The meeting starts at 6:30PM with refreshments served at 6PM. Last months minutes will be coming soon.

Our Speaker will be Maria Linck of Linck Harris Law Group. Maria will give a presentation on evictions, which is always an interesting topic. She gave a great presentation on landlord/tenant relations last year. Maria is very informative and it is always great to have her visit us.
